چکیده
The accumulation of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) through the anaerobic fermentation organic waste, such as strawberry extrudate, is proposed for this work. A hydrothermal treatment was carried out, and it to break complex matrix extrudate favour hydrolysis stage digestion process. production from treated untreated evaluated by adjusting pH 5 9. After an increase in solubilisation matter, sugars phenols, observed. In VFAs means pretreated a significant demonstrated at 9 with respect extrudate. addition, operational also had strong effect on individual VFA profile. stream enriched acetic acid obtained (around 65% VFAs), whereas operation resulted more composition high percentage propionic (29% VFAs).

Volatile Fatty Acids Production by Anaerobic Fermentation of Urban Rganic Wastes
During six months of experimentation, a plug-flow system without recirculation was employed to study the volatile fatty acids (VFA) production by means of anaerobic fermentation of urban organic wastes. Results showed an important VFA production at mesophilic range of temperature (37°C). Particulary, VFA concentration in the outlet sludge went from 11.8 g/L at 2 days of retention time up to 23....
متن کاملStudy of syntrophic anaerobic digestion of volatile fatty acids using enriched cultures at mesophilic conditions
Volatile fatty acids are the most important intermediates in anaerobic digestion, and their degradations are extremely complicated thermodynamically. In this research, syntrophic anaerobic digestion of volatile fatty acids using enriched acetogenic and methanogenic cultures in a batch reactor at mesophilic conditions was investigated. Interactive effects of key microbiological and operating var...
متن کاملRecovery of volatile fatty acids from fermentation of sewage sludge in municipal wastewater treatment plants.
This work investigated the pilot scale production of short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) from sewage sludge through alkaline fermentation and the subsequent membrane filtration. Furthermore, the impact of the fermentation liquid on nutrient bioremoval was examined. The addition of wollastonite in the fermenter to buffer the pH affected the composition of the carbon source produced during fermentati...
متن کاملTHE ABSORPTION OF VOLATILE FATTY ACIDS FROM THE RUMEN II. THE INFLUENCE OF pH ON ABSORPTION
In a previous paper the relative rates of absorption of acetic acid and propionic acid through the rumen wall were discussed (Gray, 1947a). While the manuscript was being prepared, Danielli, Hitchcock, Marshall & Phillipson (1945) described a series of experiments from which it was evident that the lower homologues of the fatty acids are absorbed through the rumen wall at different rates when t...
متن کاملPolyhydroxyalkanoate production from fermented volatile fatty acids: effect of pH and feeding regimes.
The combined fermentation of sludge from the secondary sedimentation tank of municipal wastewater treatment plants and food waste enables not only waste reduction, but also the acquisition of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) for the biosynthesis of polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). To better understand variables influencing the production of VFAs and PHAs, this study considered anaerobic fermentation of...
